Public Sector: Regulation
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade, with reference to the KPI Regulator Dashboard, updated 8 July 2026, whether he has plans to set KPIs for all public sector regulators.
Answered by Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade
The Regulation Action Plan commits the Government to ensuring regulators are transparent about their performance and that KPIs are to be published where appropriate. Given the differing structures, responsibilities, legislation and governance arrangements among regulators it is not appropriate to have standardised KPIs. KPIs are set by regulators themselves, reflecting statutory requirements, Government steers and standard governance processes. The Government is exploring options that it can undertake to help ensure that regulator KPIs support performance monitoring and align with government strategic priorities.
