Quantum Technology: Investment

Asked by Stuart AndersonConservativeMinistry of DefenceTabled Answered 8 September 2026UIN 21439

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what the indented increase in compute capacity is as part of the investment in quantum technology.

Answered by Ministry of Defence

The specific increase in Defence compute capacity from investment in quantum technology is not yet certain, as quantum computing is still maturing and its Defence applications are being explored. The MOD is working with Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Technology (DBIST) and the quantum computing sector to understand how future quantum computing capability could support Defence requirements and will make investment decisions accordingly.
