Armed Forces
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to page 12 of the Strategic Defence review, published on 2 June 2025, what progress his Department has made on ensuring the armed forces can endure a long campaign.
Answered by Ministry of Defence
Since publication of the Strategic Defence Review, the Government has taken significant steps to strengthen the Armed Forces’ ability to endure a long campaign. Through the Defence Investment Plan, we are investing £298 billion over the next four years in personnel, stockpiles, infrastructure, digital systems, munitions and force protection to rebuild warfighting readiness and improve the Armed Forces’ capacity to sustain operations.
We are also modernising equipment and strengthening the Strategic Reserve through the Armed Forces Bill 2026. Together, these measures will increase operational resilience, enhancing the Armed Forces’ ability to sustain military capability during prolonged operations and meet future security challenges.
