Defence
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to page 15 of the Strategic Defence review, published on 2 June 2025, what progress his Department has been made on the three core defence roles.
Answered by Ministry of Defence
Since the publication of the Strategic Defence Review, the Ministry of Defence has made significant progress across its three core roles.
We have strengthened the defence and resilience of the United Kingdom through investment in Integrated Air and Missile Defence, cyber capabilities, and the protection of critical national infrastructure.
We have reinforced deterrence in the Euro-Atlantic through investment in the Integrated Force, munitions, and the nuclear deterrent.
We have also continued to support Ukraine and strengthen partnerships with allies to help shape the global security environment.
The Defence Investment Plan sets out nearly £300 billion of Defence investment over the next four years to deliver these priorities. Meanwhile, the Defence Industrial Strategy will strengthen the United Kingdom's defence industrial base and drive economic growth across the country.
