Asked by Stuart AndersonConservativeMinistry of DefenceTabled Answered 8 September 2026UIN 21489

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what progress has been made since the publication of the Strategic Defence Review on space-based capabilities.

Answered by Ministry of Defence

Since publication of the Strategic Defence Review, the Ministry of Defence has continued to strengthen the resilience of UK military space capabilities and develop next-generation space-based intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities. This includes the declaration of Full Operating Capability of the Noctis-1 Space Domain Awareness sensor in May 2026, the introduction of the BOREALIS space command and control system, and continued delivery of Programme ISTARI, with additional satellites in production following the acceptance of TYCHE into service in December 2025.
