Defence: Procurement
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to page 58 of his department's Strategic Defence Review, published 2 June 2025, what progress has been made since the Strategic Defence Review on ensuring suppliers are rewarded for their productivity and for taking greater risk in their investments.
Answered by Ministry of Defence
As set out in the Defence Industrial Strategy in September last year there has been a focus on a stronger partnership with industry ensuring we can work together to deliver our shared ambition, agreeing measures to incentivise faster delivery, support to SMEs and drive innovation. The amendments to the Single Source Contract Regulations introduced in May this year mean that suppliers who deliver at pace, improve productivity, and take on more risk will earn more, while those who do not could make less.
