Armed Forces: Training

Asked by Stuart AndersonConservativeMinistry of DefenceTabled Answered 8 September 2026UIN 21563

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to page 69 of his Department's Strategic Defence Review, published on 2 June 2025, what progress his Department has made on ensuring all personnel are aware of the growing cyber risks and are equipped to take essential measures.

Answered by Ministry of Defence

Defence has continued to strengthen cyber awareness and training across the department. This includes refreshed Cyber Security Awareness Training, Defence-wide awareness campaigns delivered through the Cyber Confident programme, and further access to cyber learning has been expanded through the Cyber Defence Learning Environment.

Alongside this, Defence is investing in wider digital, data and AI skills development through initiatives such as My Digital Skills, targeted learning programmes for leaders and specialists, and the development of a Defence-wide Digital Foundational Standard.

Together, these measures help ensure Defence personnel understand cyber threats and are equipped to take the actions necessary to protect Defence information, systems and operations.
