USA: Military Alliances

Asked by Stuart AndersonConservativeMinistry of DefenceTabled Answered 8 September 2026UIN 21570

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to page 73 of his Department's Strategic Defence Review, published on 2 June 2025, what progress his Department has made on working with the United States to maximise the relationship’s potential as a force multiplier in renewing deterrence.

Answered by Ministry of Defence

The United States remains the UK’s closest defence and security ally. Through NATO, AUKUS, our defence industrial partnership and close bilateral military to military ties, this continues to be a uniquely integrated relationship. Since the publication of the Strategic Defence Review last year, we have continued to enhance the interoperability of our forces, strengthen collective deterrence, and build the capabilities and industrial capacity needed to meet shared security challenges.
