Defence Intelligence: Recruitment
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to page 129 of his Department’s Strategic Defence Review, published on 2 June 2025, what progress his Department has made on equipping Defence Intelligence with the tools to attract, develop and retain a motivated workforce.
Answered by Ministry of Defence
The Military Intelligence Services (MIS) establishes a single, integrated intelligence enterprise across the Ministry of Defence, enabling Defence’s existing intelligence organisations and capabilities to operate more coherently and effectively as one enterprise. By strengthening integration, collaboration and the sharing of expertise, MIS enhances Defence’s ability in support of decision-making and operations.
MIS will also improve the offer to Defence’s workforce through enhanced training, professional development and career opportunities. By providing a more coherent employment model and greater opportunities for skills development and progression, MIS will help attract, retain and develop the highly skilled personnel needed to meet current and future intelligence challenges.
