To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, since his department’s Defence Industrial Strategy, published 8 September 2025, what progress has been made on making defence an engine for growth.

We are committed to backing British businesses and supporting our defence industrial and skills base, making defence an engine for growth in every postcode across the UK.
Since publication of the Defence Industrial Strategy on 8 September 2025, this Government has begun delivering its commitments to reform procurement, accelerate innovation, strengthen the UK's industrial base and ensure defence investment supports both national security and economic growth. Progress includes launching all five Defence Growth Deals across the UK, delivering a £182 million defence skills package, establishing Defence Technical Excellence Colleges, investing £80 million to expand engineering and computing training capacity, and developing a Defence Finance and Investment Strategy to unlock additional private capital into defence.
These measures are helping to strengthen military capability, support British jobs and skills, improve industrial resilience and make defence an engine for growth across the United Kingdom.
