Asked by Stuart AndersonConservativeMinistry of DefenceTabled Answered 8 September 2026UIN 21669

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to page 10 of his Department’s Defence Industrial Strategy, published 8 September 2025, what progress his Department has made on boosting defence skills across the country by the formation of the Defence Universities Alliance.

Answered by Ministry of Defence

In July 2026, the Defence Universities Alliance (DUA) was launched with 35 founding member institutions. The DUA is a strategic network of universities across the UK who are publicly committed to supporting defence. It aims to promote careers within defence, grow defence research and support the collaboration between MOD, academia and industry.

MOD is working collaboratively with the founding members to shape and design the DUA to ensure that it meets its ambitions and is beneficial to both the Higher Education sector and defence.
