Defence: Skilled Workers

Asked by Stuart AndersonConservativeMinistry of DefenceTabled Answered 7 September 2026UIN 21672

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to page 10 of his department’s Defence Industrial Strategy, published 8 September 2025, what progress has been made on a Defence Skills Passport.

Answered by Ministry of Defence

The Defence Skills Passport will support those at the mid-career stage who are looking to move into and within the defence sector. It will create a digital record of an individual’s skills which should enable smoother movements between Armed Forces, the defence industry and neighbouring sectors.

The MOD is currently working with colleagues across Government to ensure plans to introduce the Defence Skills Passport align with existing activity. Further details will be announced in due course.
