NATO: Innovation

Asked by Stuart AndersonConservativeMinistry of DefenceTabled Answered 8 September 2026UIN 21677

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to page 12 of his department’s Defence Industrial Strategy, published 8 September 2025, what progress has been made on supporting the UK's defence innovation in NATO.

Answered by Ministry of Defence

UK Defence Innovation supports NATO’s Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic (DIANA) by providing a UK-based Accelerator co-located with DIANA’s European Headquarters in White City, London.

The UK Accelerator helps innovators who have been selected by DIANA and, where capacity allows, innovators directly engaged by UKDI, develop their business capabilities.

More broadly, the Ministry of Defence worked with Allies and NATO Headquarters on the Innovation Scale-Up Package announced at the NATO Summit in July 2026, and the UK plays a leading role in the wider NATO innovation agenda.
