Defence: Supply Chains
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to page 24 of his department’s Defence Industrial Strategy, published 8 September 2025, what progress has been made on managing critical supply chains to guarantee continued access.
Answered by Ministry of Defence
The Ministry of Defence is strengthening the resilience of critical supply chains through implementation of the Strategic Defence Review, Defence Industrial Strategy and Defence Investment Plan. We are improving visibility of critical dependencies, monitoring supplier fragility, identifying strategic vulnerabilities such as critical minerals, and enhancing supply chain risk management across Defence.
Defence is delivering the Defence Supply Chain Capability Programme and Industrial Resilience Programme to improve understanding of critical supply chains, identify vulnerabilities and single points of failure, and strengthen readiness. This includes mapping priority supply chains, developing analytical and supply chain illumination capabilities, enhancing resilience planning with industry, and working through the Defence Industrial Joint Council to help safeguard continued access to the critical capabilities, materials and services on which Defence depends.
