To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what assessment has been made of the potential impact of the British Industrial Competitiveness Scheme on the defence industry.

The Ministry of Defence welcomes measures that strengthen the competitiveness of UK industry and improve the resilience of domestic supply chains. The British Industrial Competitiveness Scheme is intended to reduce industrial electricity costs for eligible energy-intensive sectors, helping to create a more competitive operating environment for manufacturers that contribute to the UK defence industrial base. Defence is considered a ‘IS-8’ growth sector and we have encouraged eligible businesses to check their eligibility for the scheme, and we will continue to work across Government and with industry to understand the implications for defence supply chains as implementation progresses.
