Defence: Artificial Intelligence
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to page 70 of his department’s Defence Industrial Strategy, published 8 September 2025, what progress has been made on building AI capabilities.
Answered by Ministry of Defence
The Ministry of Defence has continued to make progress in building Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities across Defence.
This includes the establishment of the Rapid AI Delivery Taskforce (Taskforce RAID) to accelerate the delivery of AI-enabled military capabilities, investment in AI as part of the Defence Investment Plan, and the continued work of the Defence AI Centre to support the safe and responsible adoption of AI technologies.
Defence is also improving the skills, data, digital infrastructure and acquisition mechanisms required to develop, deploy and scale AI-enabled capabilities more rapidly across the Department. Progress will continue to be taken forward through implementation of the Defence Industrial Strategy, the Strategic Defence Review and the Defence Investment Plan.
