Defence: Procurement
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what progress has been made on developing a central digital platform for procurements.
Answered by Ministry of Defence
The Department is advancing the digitisation of acquisition processes, supporting the new procurement segmentation model. A single commercial pipeline will launch in September 2026 to enhance consistency, quality, and visibility of acquisition data across Defence. Further digitisation is underway through the Corporate Services Modernisation programme, developing broader source-to-contract capabilities.
To digitise Support processes, the Business Modernisation for Support (BMFS) programme has awarded contracts for new pan-Defence engineering and logistics services, introduced a common inventory-management system, and continued to retire ageing legacy applications. This is replacing fragmented processes and disconnected data with modern, standardised digital services that will improve equipment availability, supply-chain visibility, and decision-making.
