As Europeans take greater responsibility for our collective security in a more challenging threat environment, partnerships are critical to strengthening deterrence, driving strategic alignment, and accelerating capability delivery.
E5 Allies are advancing the June 2026 E5 Leaders' vision of a stronger Europe in a stronger NATO through increased defence investment, accelerated capability development and deeper defence industrial cooperation. E5 Defence Ministers meet regularly to drive delivery, including through initiatives such as ‘Low-Cost Effectors & Autonomous Platforms’ (LEAP), advancing cooperation on critical future capabilities, including air and missile defence.
At the 2026 Helsinki Summit, JEF Leaders agreed to deepen support for Ukraine and strengthen deterrence, resilience and cooperation on emerging threats across NATO's northern flank.
