The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, pursuant to WPQ 13718 answered on 1 July 2026 on Fires, what steps will the National Resilience Wildlife Advisor take to assess the impact of the wildfires in 2026 on whether further national capabilities will be needed to boost wildfire resilience.

Fire and rescue services are fully aware of the growing risk of wildfires and, working with their Local Resilience Forum partners, are responsible for maintaining the necessary plans and capabilities required to manage that risk.
Each fire and rescue authority is required to plan for the foreseeable risks in their area (including wildfire), through their Community Risk Management Plan (CRMP), informed by engagement with other key local responders. Across the country there are many examples of collaborative working at the local level between land managers, those with local knowledge, first responders and other stakeholders before, during and after wildfires. The National Wildfire Advisor will be looped into a lot of these conversations.
