Barbecues: Safety

Asked by Liz JarvisLiberal DemocratDepartment for Environment, Food and Rural AffairsTabled Answered 8 September 2026UIN 22189

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what assessment she has made of the potential merits of permanently banning the use of disposable barbecues in natural areas with a high risk of fire.

Answered by Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs

Retailers have already been informed that disposable barbecues must be removed from sale immediately. The temporary measure will remain under review but will stay in place while the heightened wildfire risk continues.
