The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what steps his Department is taking to support local transport authorities in upgrading public transport infrastructure and transitioning local bus fleets to zero-emission vehicles.

The Government is committed to supporting the transition to zero-emission buses (ZEBs). In March, we announced up to £73.2m in additional funding to support the delivery of approximately 484 ZEBs across 10 projects in England, on top of £38 million announced last April. Furthermore, we recently announced funding of £15.6 billion over five years, to improve local transport in some of our largest city regions whilst our smaller cities, towns and rural areas will also receive £2.3 billion from the Local Transport Grant.
These funding streams allow local leaders to play a more active role in the delivery of local bus services and allocate some funding toward decarbonising their fleets in line with their needs.
