Work Experience
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, what assessment his Department has made of the potential impact of corporate-led work experience schemes on youth skills shortages in the retail and logistics sectors.
Answered by Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade
The Department recognises that employer-led work experience schemes can support young people to develop the skills, confidence and experience needed to enter and progress in work.
Through the Youth Guarantee and Sector-based Work Academy Programmes, the Government is expanding opportunities for young people to access work experience, training and employment pathways.
The Department continues to work with employers across these sectors and is developing plans to evaluate the impact of work experience placements on employment outcomes and skills development.
