Railway Stations

Asked by Mr Andrew SnowdenConservativeDepartment for TransportTabled Answered 8 September 2026UIN 22675

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, if she will publish the (a) list of railway stations assessed for inclusion in the first phase of the ticket gate rollout and (b) criteria used to prioritise those stations.

Answered by Department for Transport

The Department does not intend to publish a list of stations assessed for inclusion in the first phase of the ticket gate rollout.

Train operators submitted proposals for consideration and these were assessed primarily on the basis of value for money, including forecast revenue benefits and whole-life costs; deliverability, including the achievability of implementation timescales; local operational considerations, such as levels of anti-social behaviour and station layout constraints; and interactions with existing or planned pay-as-you-go ticketing schemes.
