Railway Stations

Asked by Mr Andrew SnowdenConservativeDepartment for TransportTabled Answered 8 September 2026UIN 22676

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what assessment she has made of the potential merits of including stations serving Blackpool, Kirkham & Wesham, Poulton-le-Fylde and Lytham in future phases of the ticket gate rollout.

Answered by Department for Transport

The Department assesses proposals for ticket gate installations against a range of criteria, including value for money, deliverability and local operational considerations. We did not receive any proposals for ticket gate installations at stations serving Blackpool, Kirkham & Wesham, Poulton-le-Fylde or Lytham as part of the first phase of the rollout. Any future proposals for these or other stations would be considered against the relevant assessment criteria.
