Defence: Global Navigation Satellite Systems
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what is the scope of the Robust Global Navigation System Project.
Answered by Ministry of Defence
The Robust Global Navigation System (RGNS) project will deliver a resilient, jam-resistant Position, Navigation and Timing (PNT) Multi-Constellation Open Service receiver. Available for low Size Weight and Power applications across defence, the capability will greatly improve the resilience of PNT in military environments. The resulting product, known as the Q40 receiver, is a sovereign defence suitable capability that can also be purchased from the Prime Contractor, Qinetiq, as a Commercial Off The Shelf product.
The first two software releases for RGNS, out of three planned, have been achieved. Further scope information cannot be disclosed as it is classified information.
