HMS Chiddingfold: Decommissioning

Asked by Ben Obese-JectyConservativeMinistry of DefenceTabled Answered 8 September 2026UIN 22830

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to the Ministry of Defence annual report and accounts 2025 to 2026, Losses, if he will provide further information on the £10,896,000 constructive loss in relation to HMS Chiddingfold impairment pending removal from service.

Answered by Ministry of Defence

This reflects the remaining accounting value of the vessel and associated assets rather than additional expenditure by the Department. The decision was taken as part of the Royal Navy’s management of the Hunt-class fleet and was accompanied by an extension to HMS Bangor’s service life to maintain overall capability.
