Defence: Space Technology

Asked by Ben Obese-JectyConservativeMinistry of DefenceTabled Answered 8 September 2026UIN 22847

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to his Department's annual report and accounts 2025 to 2026, what was the specific nature of the £1,070,000 constructive loss of the Skyrora V1 Launchers that were surplus to requirements.

Answered by Ministry of Defence

In 2025, the UK ordered a number of Skyrora V1 launchers, which were manufactured as per the contract. However, in parallel, the launcher design was improved, resulting in a V3 version. Where possible, production of the upgraded V3 launchers used components from the V1 launchers, however some components were unable to be used, which had a corresponding value of £1,070,000.
