The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to Recommendation 9 of the 2025 Strategic Defence Review, what progress has he made in agreeing two productivity Key Performance Indicators for the National Armaments Director focused on a) departmental productivity and b) external supply chain productivity.
Answered by Ministry of Defence
Defence is developing a productivity measurement framework for different elements of the Defence enterprise, including supplier productivity, and continues to work with the Office for National Statistics and across Government to strengthen the way productivity is measured and reported. This work forms part of wider Defence Reform activity to improve the way performance is understood, monitored and reported across Defence.
The Department has established key performance measures linked to the Strategic Defence Review and the Defence Investment Plan and these are reported through departmental governance, including the Defence Board. Measures, including cashable efficiency savings and workforce reductions are tracked, and broader metrics across Defence continue to be refined.
