The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to recommendation 11 of the 2025 Strategic Defence Review, what he has made in establishing a mechanism for assessing the full implications of large-scale capability partnerships with allies, via a multilateral capability plan with NATO Allies that (a) identifies capabilities for joint procurement, (b) agrees common standards and (c) drives interoperability.

The Ministry of Defence is strengthening collaboration with NATO Allies and close partners to deliver priority capabilities more affordably, improve interoperability, and support the European defence industrial base. Since the publication of the Strategic Defence Review, progress includes the development of the STRATUS long-range strike missile with France, cooperation with Germany on a new deep precision strike capability, and defence partnerships with Norway and Poland. The UK has also signed a £4.6 billion contract for the Global Combat Air Programme with Italy and Japan. Further progress includes collaboration on land platforms, joint procurement, common standards, interoperability, and cooperation on defence research and development with Allies.
