Asked by Ben Obese-JectyConservativeMinistry of DefenceTabled Answered 8 September 2026UIN 22922

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to the 2025 Strategic Defence Review, what progress has he made in supporting the Cabinet Office in its work to set and enforce robust standards of protection and resilience for infrastructure, as outlined in Recommendation 27.

Answered by Ministry of Defence

Through the Homeland Defence Programme, the Ministry of Defence continues to work closely with the Cabinet Office and other Government Departments to strengthen the protection and resilience of UK CNI. This includes supporting the delivery of commitments set out in the Resilience Action Plan.

In support of Recommendation 27 of the Strategic Defence Review, the Ministry of Defence has contributed to a Cabinet Office-led exercise to map the standards and regulatory requirements that support the resilience of CNI. This work seeks to improve understanding of how existing standards are applied across sectors, identify any gaps in protection, and support wider Government efforts to strengthen the resilience of UK CNI.
