The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to recommendation 33 of the 2025 Strategic Defence Review, what progress has he made in removing barriers to productivity that sit outside industry’s direct control.

The Ministry of Defence is working closely with other Government Departments, particularly the Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade, HM Treasury, the Cabinet Office and UK Research and Innovation to support companies in the Defence supply chain to improve their productivity growth. These measures include aligning the Defence Industrial Strategy and Defence Investment Plan with national industrial priorities, supporting scale-up, regional growth, and improved supply chain efficiency. The Defence Investment Plan published on 30 June is a key part of giving our industrial base the certainty they need to invest, which in turn can drive productivity improvement.
