Ministry of Defence: Land

Asked by Ben Obese-JectyConservativeMinistry of DefenceTabled Answered 7 September 2026UIN 23005

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to recommendation 61 of the 2025 Strategic Defence Review, what progress he has made in ensuring proceeds realised from housing development on Defence land are reinvested in the renewal or future development of military accommodation.

Answered by Ministry of Defence

Investing the proceeds from housing development on Defence land in military accommodation remains a focus for Defence and is part of the Defence Investment Plan.

The Defence Housing Strategy sets out the opportunity to release land to enable investment in thousands of homes. The future delivery and implementation of the Strategy will be led by the new Defence Housing Service.

The benefit to defence accommodation also lies in the new ‘forces first’ approach, for example, at Feltham: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/military-families-and-veterans-prioritised-in-forces-first-housing-scheme.
