Defence: Finance

Asked by Ben Obese-JectyConservativeMinistry of DefenceTabled Answered 8 September 2026UIN 23017

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to the Answer of 19 November 2025 to Question 89757 on Defence: Investment, what progress he has made in developing and delivering the Defence Finance and Investment Strategy.

Answered by Ministry of Defence

Delivering on the commitments made in the SDR, DIS and DIP, we are making good progress in developing a dedicated Defence Finance and Investment Strategy (DFIS).

Progress to date includes the establishment of the Defence Investors' Advisory Group, bringing together senior expertise from venture capital, private equity, and banking to address barriers to financing and investment in the sector. Since its establishment, the DIAG has met five times over nine months, supported by wider stakeholder engagement and targeted bilateral discussions with key industry and investment partners, to help shape the Strategy.

The Ministry of Defence intends to publish the DFIS in Autumn 2026 and remains on track to do so. This will build on the Defence Investment Plan by translating Defence’s long-term demand signal into a proposition for investors, industry, public financial institutions and allies.
