The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to paragraph 4.2.5 of the Defence Investment Plan, published on 30 June 2026, how many Civil Service posts are planned to be reduced each year until 2030.

Answered by Ministry of Defence

The commitment in paragraph 4.2.5 of the Defence Investment Plan is to reduce Civil Service workforce costs by at least 10% by 2030, while reshaping the workforce around Defence priorities and protecting critical skills. Further detail on the future size and structure of the workforce will be provided in the autumn through the Long-Term Workforce Plan.
