The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, pursuant to the answer of 22 July 2026, to question 17503 on Telecommunications Cables: Seas and Oceans, what are the enhanced capabilities for RFA Proteus to be delivered over the next four years.

Answered by Ministry of Defence

The Government is investing in the Royal Navy’s suite of capabilities for critical undersea infrastructure protection, including enhancements to capabilities operated from RFA PROTEUS. While specific capability details remain subject to ongoing development, programme decisions and operational sensitivities, planned enhancements are expected to include advanced uncrewed systems and the capabilities necessary to sustain these operationally.
