Defence: Finance

Asked by Ben Obese-JectyConservativeMinistry of DefenceTabled Answered 8 September 2026UIN 23123

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what progress he has made in mapping the Defence Investment Plan against the NATO strategic capabilities list.

Answered by Ministry of Defence

The Defence Investment Plan (DIP) implements the UK’s ‘NATO First’ approach. It places NATO requirements at the heart of UK capability planning and has been developed to deliver the optimal UK contribution into NATO’s warfighting plans, driving vital transformation of our warfighting approach and modernisation of our Armed forces.

The Ministry of Defence (MOD) has completed the creation of the NATO Interoperability Roadmap, as recommended in the Strategic Defence Review (SDR). This Roadmap was endorsed by the Defence Secretary of State and the implementation has commenced. The MOD continually reviews and tracks progress on the UK efforts to improve NATO Interoperability and improving our ability to fight in the Alliance and alongside Allies.
