The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what assessment she has made of the potential impact of Tropical Race 4 on the level of Cavendish Bananas imported in the next 12 months.

Defra cannot comment on the volume of trade and availability on the market. The Department can confirm there will be no phytosanitary impacts on imports of bananas into the UK during the next 12 months because of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense Tropical Race 4 (TR4).
