Flood Control: Huntingdon
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, with reference to the section on Flood and Coastal Risk Management Investment Programme 2026-2029 in the National Infrastructure and Service Transformation Authority's document entitled NISTA Major Projects Annual Report 2025-26 data, updated on 13 July 2026, what is the scope of the new programme that commenced on 1 April 2026.
Answered by Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs
The scope of the 2026-2029 Floods and Coastal Erosion Management Investment programme remains unchanged from previous Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management programmes. It includes the construction of new flood and coastal defences, the refurbishment and maintenance of existing flood assets, and Natural Flood Management such as planting trees, restoring rivers and creating wetlands. The programme also covers improvements to flood warnings and forecasting, surface water flood risk projects, and the funding of Environment Agency teams to ensure delivery. This is funded through Grant-in-Aid funding for Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management.
