The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, with reference to the National Infrastructure and Service Transformation Authority Major Projects Annual Report 2025 to 2026, Tables, East Coast Mainline Programme, what progress has she made in rebaselining the benefits of the investment.

The December 2025 timetable, enabled by the East Coast Main Line Programme, has delivered more than 60,000 extra seats per week, more frequent trains, and quicker journeys. The programme’s benefits are being re-baselined, and the Department is working closely with Network Rail, DFTO, and industry partners to ensure they reflect the latest delivery evidence.
