Asked by Ben Obese-JectyConservativeDepartment for TransportTabled Answered 8 September 2026UIN 23180

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, with reference to the National Infrastructure and Service Transformation Authority Major Projects Annual Report 2025 to 2026, Tables, HS2 Phase 1, what progress has she made in exploring a private finance delivery model for the HS2 station.

Answered by Department for Transport

The Department has progressed from initial options analysis to developing and testing a public-private partnership (PPP) proposition for the HS2 station at Euston.

Earlier this year, the Department undertook preliminary market engagement on a design, build, finance and maintain model, receiving almost 50 responses from contractors, investors and finance providers. Feedback from this engagement is being used to refine the proposition and inform the procurement strategy. Work in this area continues.
