Defence: Procurement

Asked by Ben Obese-JectyConservativeMinistry of DefenceTabled Answered 8 September 2026UIN 23214

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, how many projects have been delayed following the introduction of commitment controls for RDEL, CDEL and External Assistance; and by how long for each project.

Answered by Ministry of Defence

As part of standard budget management, the Ministry of Defence routinely scrutinises expenditure commitments through established approval and control processes. These arrangements form part of normal financial governance and are designed to ensure that public money is managed effectively and that expenditure remains aligned with Defence priorities.

Projects and programmes are expected to plan for approval requirements within their delivery schedules and continue to manage milestones through the Department's established governance processes.
