East West Rail Line

Asked by Ben Obese-JectyConservativeDepartment for TransportTabled Answered 8 September 2026UIN 23224

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, by when services will run on East West Rail between Oxford and Stewartby.

Answered by Department for Transport

Construction is now complete on the first section of EWR from Oxford to Milton Keynes, and we are looking forward to commencing services as soon as all necessary authorisations and agreements are in place. Following the Government’s ambition to deliver major infrastructure projects more quickly, EWR Co recently set out its accelerated delivery plans for services between Oxford and Stewartby to begin from the early 2030s.
