Ministry of Defence: Public Expenditure

Asked by Ben Obese-JectyConservativeTreasuryTabled Answered 8 September 2026UIN 23226

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to the Defence funding update, HCWS165, published on 30 June 2026, if he will provide further information on the £600 million identified to increase MoD spending power from MoD reprioritisation.

Answered by Treasury

The £600m of reprioritisation referenced relates to funding held for policy initiatives and issues where the crystallisation of the cost was uncertain. His Majesty’s Treasury agreed that funding for these issues could be held as a central risk and managed as part of ordinary financial planning as and when they materialise.
