The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade, with reference to the Press release “Patients to benefit from faster access to medicines as UK moves away from animal testing in science”, published on 12 August 2026, by when will the new Pre-clinical Translational Models Hub be operational.

The Pre-clinical Translational Models Hub, funded by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI)'s Medical Research Council (MRC) and based in Cambridge, is expected to commence work in autumn 2026. The Hub is backed by £20 million of Government funding and will develop and share models of human disease to support medicines development.
