Defence: Finance
The question
To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer, with reference to the Defence funding update (HCWS165), published on 30 June 2026, whether it is still the Treasury’s expectation that departments will bring forward details of the monetisation of assets to fund defence so that the Government are securing the maximum value from the £1.9 trillion of assets the government holds.
Answered by Treasury
In the Defence funding update (HCWS165), the Government set out its intention to monetise assets to help fund defence. The Government remains committed to improving the efficiency of public assets so that they deliver maximum value for taxpayers. Further details of the Government's plans will be set out at the Budget.
