Fire and Rescue Services

Asked by Ben Obese-JectyConservativeMinistry of Housing, Communities and Local GovernmentTabled Answered 8 September 2026UIN 23339

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, by when will she commence the asset refresh programme for Fire and Rescue Services.

Answered by Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government

The Government announced in June 2026 an investment of approximately £97m under the New Dimensions 2 programme to uplift and replace National Resilience assets in fire and rescue services. This is the largest scale upgrade of these assets in almost 20 years.

We have already funded the replacement of Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Detection, Identification, and Monitoring (DIM) vehicles & equipment, and Enhanced Logistics Support (ELS) assets. These new assets are now being used operationally.

MHCLG also continues to fund the replacement and ongoing maintenance of existing National Resilience assets while new assets are procured through the New Dimensions 2 programme.
