The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to the UK armed forces equipment and formations 2026, published on 20 August 2026, what is the status of the 9 Chinook helicopters the fleet reduced by between 2024 and 2026.

Nine Chinook helicopters were removed from the reported fleet between 2024 and 2026. Of these nine aircraft, three have been retained for training and heritage purposes, five are being disposed of in accordance with Defence disposal policy, and one aircraft is being retained to provide structural spares in support of the remaining in-service Chinook fleet.
