Asked by Ben Obese-JectyConservativeMinistry of JusticeTabled Answered 8 September 2026UIN 23353

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, with reference to the National Infrastructure and Service Transformation Authority Major Projects Annual Report 2025 to 2026, Tables, PFI Prison Expiry and Transfer Tranche 3, whether he has finalised the schedule for the delivery of 345 places at HMP and YOI Parc.

Answered by Ministry of Justice

The expansion project at HMP Parc is part of the Prison Supply Programmes. The schedule for the houseblock expansion at HMP and YOI Parc is being finalised. We are working at pace to finalise arrangements as quickly as possible to support the delivery of additional prisoner places. As set out in the December 2024 10-Year Prison Capacity Strategy, we are committed to delivering an additional 14,000 prison places across England and Wales and have already delivered around 3,300 places since July 2024. We remain on track to meet this commitment by 2031.
