To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to the National Infrastructure and Service Transformation Authority Major Projects Annual Report 2025 to 2026, Tables, Type 31, how is the Type 31 general purpose frigate programme acting as the pathfinder programme for the Government’s National Shipbuilding Strategy.

The Type 31 programme is innovative, using a competitive procurement and delivery approach to deliver a flexible and adaptable general-purpose frigate capability for the Royal Navy, while supporting the maritime industry base, skills development and export potential across the UK maritime sector.
