The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, with reference to the National Infrastructure and Service Transformation Authority Major Projects Annual Report 2025 to 2026, Tables, 10K Additional Prison Places Estate Expansion - New Build, by when will the remaining two sites enter works contract.

Answered by Ministry of Justice

The Ministry of Justice signed the enabling works contract with Laing O'Rourke in August 2026 in relation to the new prison at Garth. The enabling works contract in relation to the new prison at Grendon is expected by the end of 2026.
